This infographic explores how the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is affecting some groups in the UK more than others.

A healthy population is one the nation’s most important assets. Good health supports positive social and economic outcomes, for individuals and for society.

It’s been clear from the early stages of the pandemic that some groups are more affected than others. The consequences have been vast and felt across society, with implications for everything from mental health during lockdown, to getting back to work.

The Health Foundation’s COVID-19 impact inquiry is exploring how people’s experience of the pandemic was influenced by their health and existing inequalities and how the response to the virus impacts people’s health and health inequalities – now and in the future.

The inquiry will consider key areas of life including health, employment and education, and how deprivation, location, age, gender, ethnicity, mental health and disability have affected people’s experiences of the pandemic.

As well as providing an important record of the impact of the pandemic, the findings will inform government action as we move through recovery, to improve people’s health over the longer term.
