The COVID-19 pandemic has brought health and health inequalities into sharp focus. It has been clear from the early stages of the pandemic that some groups are more affected than others.

Our COVID-19 impact inquiry is exploring the pandemic’s implications for health and health inequalities in the UK. It will consider how people’s experience of the pandemic was influenced by health and existing inequalities as well as the likely impact of measures to control the virus on people’s health and health inequalities.

This blog series rounds up emerging evidence on the unequal effects of the pandemic, building an important record of its wide-ranging impact on society so far. We explore areas of focus for the inquiry and, as we move towards recovery, we consider the role government, society and businesses have to play in allowing everyone to live a healthy life.
